Jellyfishing is a fictional sport in the television series Spongebob Squarepants. It is apparently a major sport, and the show's title character is often seen participating in it.

Jellyfishing can be traced as far back as the basic prehistoric era. The inventor of the sport is Squidward Tentacles, who invented jellyfishing during an accidental time travel.<ref name="SB-129"> </ref>He taught a primitive sponge and starfish how to jellyfish, because they were torturing themselves with it. In SpongeBob B.C., cave drawings of a sponge jellyfishing can be seen in SpongeGar's pineapple. In medieval times, the jellyfish net is modernized, in the episode, Dunces and Dragons. Jellyfishing continues to be a popular hobby in the present times as well as into the 41st century.

[edit] Jellyfishers Convention

A jellyfisher's convention called the Biannual Jellyfishers Convention, is held in Ukulele Bottom. In the Jellyfishers Convention Center, there are displays including the state-of-the-art Jellyfish nets display and the Harpoon from “Jellyfish: The Movie”. At the convention, famous jellyfishers set up displays to discuss their jellyfishing experiences. Such as Dr. Manowar, who was stung by Big Lenny and lived; and the Jelly Spotters; their leader, Kevin the Sea Cucumber who was eventually kicked out, and SpongeBob took over until he turned them down.

In Tea at the Treedome, SpongeBob is seen briefly Jellyfishing a blue jellyfish. In "Jellyfishing", SpongeBob and Patrick try to make Squidward jellyfish but he can't agree and he is shocked by the Queen/Mother Jellyfish. In SB-129, SpongeBob and Patrick try again to make Squidward jellyfish and he, in the past, creates the jellyfishing sport. In Jellyfish Jam, SpongeBob takes one jellyfish's jelly and she ends up being his pet, which actually calls other jellyfishes to dance. In Jellyfish Hunter, SpongeBob again takes a jellyfish's jelly and make a "Jelly Patty". Mr. Krabs see money on this and says to SpongeBob catches all the Jellyfishes, only to takes the jam and make the patties. In The Sponge Who Could Fly, SpongeBob tries be able to fly with the jellyfishes. They end up making SpongeBob float. In I'm Your Biggest Fanatic, SpongeBob and Patrick go to jellyfish convention and SpongeBob tries to turn his assistant.
