[edit] Politics
In 2000, Doyle unsuccessfully ran for the United States House of Representatives in California's 24th Congressional district (Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, to the northwest of Los Angeles), as a Republican. He later severed his ties with the party, and now declares himself an independent.
Doyle is now a talk radio host syndicated via Talk Radio Network, discussing politics, current events, and popular culture. On his radio show he coined the phrase "Grapefruit Mentality" referring to the public's fascination with issues and celebrities that don't really matter. While an avowed independent, Doyle still does many things to support the Republican Party on his show, such as asking his listeners the following on his website:
"Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi has said the entire Republican Party suffers from what she calls the "culture of corruption." Download this letter and send it to her as we have done on The Jerry Doyle Show asking her to swear that she does not have a single bad ethical mark on her record." <ref>www.jerrydoyle.com</ref>
[edit] Radio Show
Weekdays from 3PM-6PM ET (12PM-3PM PT), Jerry Doyle airs the popular Jerry Doyle Show on the Talk Radio Network. He is different from other afternoon drive talk hosts, such as Sean Hannity, in that he does not just talk about politics.
