Joseph Michael Kramer (born June 21, 1950 in The Bronx, New York City, United States) is a drummer and percussionist for the rock and roll group Aerosmith. It was Kramer who named the band Aerosmith in 1973. Joey Kramer briefly attended the Thornton Donovan School. Joey was frequently hounded during the early years by Steven Tyler to play more consistently, as Tyler's own background is in percussion. According to the band's autobiography, Walk This Way, Joey was frequently the one collecting monies owed to the group. He is credited with coming up with the name Aerosmith.
His first writing credit with the band was "Pandora's Box" off their second album, Get Your Wings.
