John Battelle

John Linwood Battelle is a journalist and has been a visiting professor of journalism at UC Berkeley. He is now founder, Chair, and Publisher of Federated Media Publishing. He also maintains Searchblog, a weblog covering search, technology, and media, at battellemedia.com. Battelle has also written for Business 2.0 and is program chair for the Web 2.0 conference.

He is one of the original founders of Wired magazine, the founder of The Industry Standard magazine and website, and "band manager" of the collaborative weblog Boing Boing. In 2005 he published a book on Google and the Internet search industry, titled "The Search: How Google and Its Rivals Rewrote the Rules of Business and Transformed our Culture".

This book has been translated into several languages : German : Die Suche.
