John Bertrand (born December 20, 1946 in Melbourne, Victoria) is a yachtsman from Australia, who won the bronze medal in the Finn competition at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.

He's a member of Royal Brighton Yacht Club in Melbourne Australia, and skippered Australia II to victory in the 1983 America's Cup, ending 132 years of American supremacy. Bertrand currently sails an Etchells.

John Bertrand (AUS) wrote "Born to Win" about the 1983 America's cup victory, including insightful observations on the strategy for an un-favored team against very long odds.

There are two John Bertrands who are champion sailors, one from Australia and one from the USA. John Edwin Bertrand born 1946 of Australia - won the America's cup in 1982 and the Finn bronze in 1976 Olympics. John Joseph Bertrand born ?? of the USA - silver medal in the Finn class in Olympics of Los Angeles.

Contrary to "Olympic medal record" on this page, neither won the Finn Bronze in '84.
