John Oliver (born 1977) is a British comedian currently serving as a correspondent on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. His previous credits include The Department with Chris Addison and Andy Zaltzman, Political Animal and Fighting Talk. He is an ex-member of the Cambridge Footlights.

Has performed stand-up shows at the Edinburgh Fringe with writing partner Andy Zaltzman. Though they tackle big political issues in their material, the pair's style is less serious, often teasing each other. When mocked about his acting style, John puts it down to his National Youth Theatre past. John Oliver was due to perform with Andy Zaltzman at the 2006 festival but was offered The Daily Show job in New York at short notice, leaving Zaltzman to hurriedly re-write the show, to perform alone. John Oliver made up for missing the festival by performing via webcam during Daniel Kitson's Honourable Men of Art whenever he could.

While filming for the October 11, 2006 segment "War: What It Is Good For", Oliver fell and broke his nose. He declined to have it set however, out of fear that it would prevent future appearances on the The Daily Show. "It’s all about timing. If they fix it, I’ll be out for a week with black eyes" <ref>http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/05/arts/television/05itzk.html?pagewanted=2 </ref>
