- Joint refers to a joining; a connection point of multiple things.

- In zootomical anatomy and the culinary arts, a joint is the location at which two bones make contact.
- In automotive and mechanical engineering, "joint" may refer to a universal joint. Or it may refer to a seal made of suitably formulated paper which prevents leakages of liquids such as water or oil from pipework or the like of gearboxes, boiler pipe flanges or crankcases. it is the liquid-proof counterpart of the gas-proof gasket.
- In mechanical engineering and civil engineering, "joint" may refer to a connection point in a truss where 3 or more truss members come together and are connected. It may be a pin joint (1 degree of rotational freedom), or a rolling or a sliding joint (1 degree of translational freedom), and knowing which it is becomes important when doing static analysis or dynamic analysis of the load bearing capacity of the truss.

- In geology a geological joint is a fracture in a rock mass which has no offset (not a geological fault) and is generally formed by decompressive, extensional stress.

- In military doctrine, joint warfare seeks to integrate the branches of a country's armed forces in order to increase unity of command.
- Woodworking joints are used in carpentry to join pieces of wood.
