Jonathon Band

Admiral Sir Jonathon Band KCB RN (born 1950) is the most senior serving officer in the Royal Navy.
He was educated at Haileybury and the University of Exeter before going into the Navy. Between September 2002 and November 2005 he served as Commander-in-Chief Fleet, responsible for the preparation and operation of the ships, submarines and aircraft of the Royal Navy based at Northwood. In that post he had a NATO command as Commander Allied Maritime Component Command, Northwood.
He is currently the First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff. He took up his post in February 2006 taking over from Admiral Sir Alan West. Upon taking up the post of First Sea Lord he became the professional head of the Royal Navy.
