Julius Richard Petri

Julius Richard Petri (Barmen, May 31, 1852 – December 20, 1921 in Zeitz) was a German bacteriologist who invented the Petri dish while working with Robert Koch. Rumor has it that the dinosaur Petrie from The Land Before Time was named after him.
