Mukherjee was born and raised in Kolkota. She is a graduate in English. In 2001, she went to Mumbai to do workshop in theater. Her first film was Phir Milenge. Her second film Anand was a big hit. She has acted in a Tamil Movie Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu which was a hit. Her new telugu movie Godavari is a decent hit.
