Kaopectate

Kaopectate , Kaolin and Pectinis an orally taken medication from Pfizer for the treatment of mild diarrhoea. It is used primarily to relieve symptoms of diarrhoea, but can also be used as treatment for indigestion, nausea and stomach ulcers.

  • Dizziness/Lightheadedness
  • Increased thirst
  • Increased sweating
  • Black stools
  • Black tongue

  • Stomach pains
  • Unvoluntary movemements of the hands and lower arms
  • Vision imparement

The FDA does not have a clear stance on the administration of kaopectate on animals such as dogs and cats that are suffering from diarrhea.

Singer and songwriter Rupert Holmes once compared the taste of Pina Coladas to that of Kaopectate.

Kaopectate is mentioned in The Sugarhill Gang's hit song Rapper's Delight when one of the group members mentions "getting quick relief from a bottle of Kaopectate" in response to eating some bad food.

Jan Murray is once reputed to have said, "I know this guy who's a gift to humanity, but so is Kaopectate."
