Lake Street is a road in Chicagoland which is part of U.S. Route 20. Lake Street begins in the city of Chicago and travels out to the Chicago suburbs. US Route 20 East continues on Mannheim Road and shares with U.S. Route 45 toward Indiana.
Cities include Melrose Park, Northlake, Addison, Bloomingdale, Roselle, Hanover Park, Streamwood, Bartlett and Elgin.
Lake Street begins at Columbus Drive in the Chicago Loop and continues through downtown into the city of Chicago.
From the city of Chicago into the Northwest Suburbs. US-Route 20 begins just past Mannheim Road and follows Lake Street going westbound through the Elgin Area.
The Elgin-O'Hare Expressway built in 1993 can be accessed in Hanover Park. Lake Street was widened in order to make access to the expressway easier.
It changes to US Grant Highway in Kaneville Township. The street is reduced to two lanes until Rockford, Illinois where it merges together with Interstate 90.
