Leibniz
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gottfried Leibniz (July 1 1646 – November 14 1716) was a German polymath.
In mathematics, several different results due to Gottfried Leibniz are known as the Leibniz formula or Leibniz's formula:
- Leibniz formula for π
- Leibniz formula for the determinant of a matrix
- The product rule or some of its generalizations is also sometimes known as the Leibniz formula or Leibniz law
- In particular, see Leibniz rule (generalized product rule).
- Leibnitz formula can also refer to the Leibniz integral rule
At least two results in calculus are called Leibniz's rule or the Leibniz rule, in honor of Gottfried Leibniz. See:
The philosophical (ontological) principle of the identity of indiscernibles is sometimes also known as Leibniz's rule or Leibniz's law.
