Lepe is a Spanish town in the province of Huelva, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is situated near the Portuguese border. According to the 2005 census, the city has a population of 22,709 inhabitants.
Lepe is known for its strawberries. It is also the subject of hundreds of Spanish jokes. [1]
The town was originally founded by the Phoenicians. [2]
