Simon jokes about Mandisa's size when Paula says "she reminds me of Frenchie Davis," Simon replies "Forget Frenchie. She's France." </td></tr>

Among the semifinalists who (as shown) auditioned in Denver were Lisa Tucker, Ace Young, Chris Daughtry, and Heather Cox. Simon tells Lisa that she is the best 16-year-old they've ever had. Chris' wife screams as Chris walks out with ticket. A clip is also shown of his country home in North Carolina, living with his wife and stepchildren. </td></tr>

After Terrell told Derrell that he was not eliminated, Derrell went back and apologized to the judges, asking to let them back in. The judges said the both of them could, and not everybody was happy. Brenna Gethers does not get along with her group members Marcy Smith and Nick Whitten. Elliott Yamin is shown for the first time, along with group member Josè "Sway" Penala. </td></tr>

Hicks is asked to choose the group he thinks is the top three, and to join it. He starts to walk toward Chris' group but when Ryan Seacrest tells him he's wrong, Hicks immediately shakes hands with Chris and goes to the other group instead. It is announced that Chris' group is the bottom three, and Ace is eliminated. </td></tr>
