Liverpool Edge Hill by-election, 1979

A by-election was held for the British House of Commons constituency of Liverpool Edge Hill on March 29 1979. The seat became vacant following the death of Member of Parliament Sir Arthur Irvine.
The result was a gain for the Liberal Party.
