Lord Howe Island Marine Park consists of the waters to 3 nautical miles (6 km) off Lord Howe Island, Ball's Pyramid and a New South Wales state marine park. The waters 3 to 12 nautical miles (6 to 22 km) from Lord Howe Island and Ball's Pyramid were declared a federal marine park on 21 June 2000, see Lord Howe Island Marine Park (commonwealth waters). The park complements the island group's status as a World Heritage site. Its primary objective is to protect marine biodiversity.
