- "Lu" or "Lu rou" (lu meat) is a popular Chinese cooking style which is similar to the "adobo" style of cooking in the Philippines. It refers to the spices, more than the main ingredients. Spices include the "five spices" (anise, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and something else [may be more or less than five in actual use]), soy sauce, sugar, and salt. Typical main ingredients are fatty pork and whole chicken eggs, but chicken organs, hard/dride tofu (dou gan), seaweed, and other meats are also popular ingredients.
