Luca Ghini

Luca Ghini (1490 - May 4, 1566) was an Italian physician and botanist.
Ghini was born in Imola and studied medicine at the University of Bologna. He published the first herbarium in 1544. In the same year he founded the Orto botanico di Pisa, Pisa's botanical garden, and the first university botanical garden in Europe.
