LunarStorm

LunarStorm is the world's first virtual community website operated by a company called LunarWorks in Varberg, Sweden. The website is well known in Sweden, with in excess of 1.2 million users, most of them youths, and has now opened a service in the UK. The average user age of the Swedish version is officially 18. <ref>PressBox.co.uk press release, November 2005</ref>. The predecessor to Lunarstorm was called "StajlPlejs" (which means StylePlace in English). Having been around since 1996, Lunarstorm officially launched on January 1 2000 with venture capital backing. Very often around 30-40000 are online at the same time. The founder is named Rickard and lives in Tvååker in Halland, Sweden. The name itself comes from Rickards girlfriend nickname.
