[edit] Survivability

The Guardian's armor is designed to defeat .50 caliber armor piercing ammunition, 12-pound anti-tank mine, and 155 mm artillery from 15 m above. The ASV can survive a direct hit from a Rocket Propelled Grenade and be functional although crew deaths and injuries are likely depending on where the RPG hits.<ref>Global Security</ref> As for chemical and biological attacks the ASV’s gas particulate air filtration system provides additional protection.

[edit] Deployability

  • Six ASV's can fit on to a C-17 fully loaded, ready to roll off.
  • The ASV is the only vehicle that can roll off a cargo plane, combat ready, in under 20 minutes.
  • The ASV has a high survivability rate, however it is vulnerable to RPG attacks and IED (Improvised Explosive Devices)attacks as evidenced by the current conflict in Iraq.

[edit] Mobility

The typical mission profile of an ASV involves 50% primary roads, 30% secondary roads, and 20% cross-country conditions. Front and rear independent suspension provies smooth highway speeds of up to 60 mph, while it is still capable of fording 5 foot depths of water, climbing gradiants of 60%, and overcoming obstacles of two feet.

[edit] Variants

  • Armored Personnel Carrier (8 passengers)
  • Command & Control
  • Recovery Vehicle (Although each ASV can tow another ASV or HUMVEE)
  • RECON
  • Mortar Carrier
  • Ambulance
  • Recovery
  • Contermine
