Mauldeth Road railway station is a suburban railway station on the Manchester - Crewe (via Manchester Airport) rail route, used by Northern Rail and First Transpennine Express for stopping services to Manchester Airport. It caters mainly for commuter traffic, being electrified at 25kV AC overhead, and is used by a mixture of EMU and DMU traffic.
Services are approximately every half hour in each direction on Mondays to Saturdays, with extra peak hour calls by express services to cater for commuters to/from Manchester. The Sundays frequency is hourly.
The original wooden ticket office burned down on bonfire night in the late 1980s, and now the ticket office is in a small prefabricated unit at the bottom of the station approach.
