Maximum contaminant level of MTBE

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) currently lists methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) as a candidate for a maximum contaminant level (MCL) in drinking water (1). MCL's are determined by the EPA using toxicity data. Currently, only organoleptic drinking water standards are enforced by the EPA.
