Members of the National Assembly for Wales

cy:Cynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru The National Assembly for Wales is composed of 60 members known as AMs or assembly members (in Welsh: ACau or Aelodau'r Cynulliad). 40 are elected from winner-take-all constituencies on a single member plurality basis. 20 are elected in regions elected through proportional representation.
The First Minister of Wales and his Cabinet comprises the Welsh Assembly Government.
The last election was on May 1, 2003.
The current party distribution in the National Assembly for Wales:
- 29 Labour
- 12 Plaid Cymru
- 11 Conservative
- 6 Liberal Democrat
- 1 Forward Wales (formerly John Marek Independent Party)
- 1 Independent
