The Metrotorino is a VAL metro system connecting Turin, Italy with the neighboring city of Collegno. The first phase of the system, known as Linea 1, has 11 stations and links Fermi station in Collegno with XVIII Dicembre station near the Porta Susa railway station in central Turin. The line was opened on February 4, 2006, just in time for the 2006 Winter Olympics. The system charges 0.90 Euro for a single ride and is gradually extending its daily operating schedule (7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. since March 1, 2006).
