Milford is a borough in Pike County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,104 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Pike CountyGR6. Milford was the home of noted forester and conservationalist Gifford Pinchot. A former Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, his home Grey Towers has been under the control of the National Forest Service since 1963. It now serves as training and educational center for future conservationalists and interested tourists.

Milford has been home to the Milford Science Fiction Writers Workshop since 1956, founded by Damon Knight, James Blish and Kate Wilhelm, all residents of Milford at the time.

Milford is located at 41°19′27″N, 74°48′10″W (41.324169, -74.802839)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²), all land.

The Black Bear Film Festival is an event that takes place to acknowledge the independent film world. It also is a great way to experience the beautiful changing of the leaves and the town itself.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,104 people, 522 households, and 281 families residing in the borough. The population density was 888.0/km² (2,318.1/mi²). There were 560 housing units at an average density of 450.5/km² (1,175.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough was 96.20% White, 1.36% African American, 0.45% Native American, 0.54% Asian, 0.54% from other races, and 0.91% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.45% of the population.

There were 522 households out of which 22.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.0% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 46.0% were non-families. 40.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.11 and the average family size was 2.87.

In the borough the population was spread out with 20.7% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 25.5% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 90.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.4 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $33,571, and the median income for a family was $46,136. Males had a median income of $40,500 versus $28,333 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $21,011. About 4.0% of families and 9.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.1% of those under age 18 and 5.6% of those age 65 or over.
