[edit] National Updates
- Cambodia and Nepal are expected to send their first ever delegates to the Miss Universe pageant next year.
- Barbados, Belize, Curacao, Italy, Kenya, Netherlands, and Vietnam are all expected to return after failing to send delegates this year in Los Angeles.
- Seychelles is returning with its second delegate ever, after a 12-year absence.
- Panama cancelled its national pageant due to lack of interest and sponsorship. A casting call or small pageant could take place in late April/early May 2007, but it has not been confirmed.
- Austria, Botswana, Honduras, Portugal, and Zimbabwe are all expected to return after short absences.
- Serbia and Montenegro will compete individually, for the first time in Miss Universe history.
[edit] Host City Selection News
It is strongly rumored that San Juan is going to be the host of the pageant. Official information might be announced very soon.
It is also rumoured that the pageant will be back in Los Angeles for a second consecutive year.
- Colombia (postponed)
Colombian officials wanted to present a bid to host the Miss Universe pageant in 2007 or 2008 but the Government denied the proposal, stating that it was too expensive and not profitable. Mayors in Bogota and Medellin opposed to the proposal. The idea did not have sufficient backup and the proposal was postponed, with plans on being revised to see if the country hosts the 2008 edition.
- Guatemala City, Guatemala (cancelled)
Guatemala had intentions on hosting the Miss Universe 2007 contest, an idea that was born around 2004 but didn't have sufficent support from the Government.
