The Mochokidae are a family of catfish from Africa that includes the squeakers and upside-down catfish. Mochokids are part of Order Siluriformes, which is part of the Actinopterygii (ray-finned fishes). There are 10 genera and more than 150 species of mochokids. All the mochokids are freshwater species. They range in size from 1" to 24" with the most popular species among aquarists being Synodontis Angelicus, which averages 6" to 8" as adults.
