Molinella is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Bologna in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 30 km northeast of Bologna. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 14,700 and an area of 128.1 km2.<ref name="istat">All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat.</ref>
The municipality of Molinella contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Marmorta, S.Martino in Argine, S.Pietro Capofiume, and Selva Malvezzi.
