Montreal-Ottawa Corridor
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Montreal-Ottawa Corridor is a large metropolitan area including the Quebec regions of Montreal, Montérégie, Laurentides, Lanaudière, Laval, and Outaouais, and the Ontario census divisions of Ottawa and Prescott-Russell. It is a fast-growing region of almost 5,700,000 people. It is the second largest metropolitan area entireley in Canada, after the Golden Horseshoe (if Detroit is included in the Windsor are, it would be second; see Windsor-Detroit.) The largest city is, by far, Montreal, with over 1,850,000 people, but both it and Ottawa, with around 850,000, are extremely important, due to the fact that Ottawa is the national capital of Canada. It is the second chief region in the Quebec City-Windsor Corridor, and greatly resembles the Golden Horseshoe.

The designation is only in informal use; Statistics Canada has not designated any statistical area encompassing the distinct Ottawa and Montreal Census Metropolitan Areas.
