Morelia is a genus of snakes in the family Pythonidae. Snakes of the genus Morelia hail from the forests of Australia and New Guinea. In general, pythons of this group are arboreal to semi-arboreal, spending much of their life in the forest canopy. Although there are exceptions (most notably the scrub python), most snakes in this group attain adult lengths of 5–8 feet (2–3 m). They are the only known predators of frill-necked lizards.
