[edit] Story
Though his genes give him the appearance of someone in their mid-30s, Nappa is a 50-year old Saiyan, and is first seen with the Saiyan Prince Vegeta after hearing of Raditz's death at the hands of Piccolo and Goku. He travels to Earth with Vegeta to gather the Dragon Balls and wish for eternal life. He is a warrior in Freeza's army and reports his accomplishments to Freeza directly, alongside Raditz and Vegeta.
After arriving on Earth, Nappa and Vegeta head off to seek out the Dragon Balls, but are confronted by the Z Senshi. On Vegeta's orders, Nappa grows six Saibamen, small vicious creatures, to pit against the Earth's defenders in a mock tournament. In the resulting battle, Yamcha is killed and all of the Saibamen are destroyed, prompting Nappa to enter the fight himself.
Nappa first attacks Tenshinhan, quickly crippling the triclops by severing his arm. Nappa is soon interrupted by a suicidal attack by Chaozu, who clings to the giant's back and explodes. However, the attack does no damage and Nappa returns his focus to Tenshinhan; but as he moves in to finish him off, he is taken off guard by an attack from Piccolo and Kuririn. Their assault fails though, as Gohan, Goku's son, did not attack when he was supposed to. Tenshinhan makes an attempt to avenge Chaozu, and kills himself while firing his final Blast Cannon with one hand; the blast damages Nappa's armor, but still leaves him relatively unhurt; Tenshinhan dies as a result of this.
Nappa wastes little time and charges at Piccolo and Kuririn, but is halted by Vegeta, who has decided to wait for Goku to show up. Nappa is reluctant to do so at first, almost disobeying Vegeta, but submits once Vegeta shows some loss of temper.
After three hours have passed, the fight resumes. Nappa is first distracted by Kuririn and Piccolo grabs his tail, a weak spot on Saiyans. The plan fails though, as Nappa has trained his tail to withstand such a tactic. He quickly elbows Piccolo in the head, bringing the Namek down and freeing himself to turn his attention to Kuririn and Gohan.
Nappa fights them and ultimately kills Piccolo when the Namek uses his body to shield Gohan from a brutal attack. Gohan, enraged by this, uses all his power in one last blast; an attack that Nappa parries. Just as Nappa is about to finish off the exhausted Gohan, Goku arrives.
Nappa is unable to land a blow against Goku and even his ultimate attack fails to faze him. When Vegeta loses patience with Nappa's performance and orders him to stand down, Nappa decides to take the humiliation out on Gohan and Kuririn, charging at them. Goku stops him and fells Nappa with a kaio ken strike to his back.
Nappa, now too weak to stand, is tossed at Vegeta's feet by Goku. As a punishment for his failure, Nappa is quickly tossed in the air by the Saiyan Prince. After he insults Vegeta for his treachery, Nappa is ultimately destroyed by Vegeta's energy blast.
Upon entering the Afterlife, he joins Raditz after being sent to Hell by King Yemma. In Dragon Ball GT, Nappa is revived with the rest of the evil departed. He attacks Vegeta in an attempt to destroy him, but Vegeta easily destroys Nappa with a Ki blast.
[edit] Special abilities
- Translated as "Explosion Wave", also known as the BreakStorm" in the Budokai video games. Nappa rases two fingers in the air and creates a large explosion around him. He can be seen performing this attack to destroy a city when he first arrives on Earth with Vegeta, in a filler episode on Planet Arlia, when he was fighting Goku, and in Dragon Ball GT when he returns from Hell.
Bomber DX
- He uses this attack many times though out the Saiyan Saga, most notably to kill Piccolo. Nappa charges up wave ki and fires it with one hand. It is not named in the manga or anime. Bomber DX is taken from the first three Budokai series. Nappa refers to it as the Death Blow nearly every time he uses it in the Dub anime.
Saiko no Kogeki
- Translated as "Ultimate Skill", also known as the "Break Cannon" in the Budokai video games. Nappa fires a blue beam of energy from his mouth similar to that of Saiyans in their Oozaru forms. He calls this his ultimate move and uses it as a last resort in his battle with Son Goku.
