New East Prussia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
New East Prussia (German: Neuostpreussen) was a province of the Kingdom of Prussia from 1795 to 1807. It was created after the third partition of Poland. The main city was Warsaw and in 1806 it had 914,610 inhabitants with a territorial area of less than 55,000 km².
German colonists invited to settle on the province's estates were known as Hauländer.
The province ceased to exist when Napoleon took it in 1807, and the territory became a part of the Duchy of Warsaw, except the Białystok district which was ceded to the Russian Empire.
