Niklas Bäckström (born February 13, 1978 in Helsinki, Finland) is a Finnish ice hockey goaltender.
He currently plays for the Minnesota Wild of the NHL, and has represented Finland in international play. He was the third goaltender for Team Finland in the 2006 Winter Olympics, but did not play any games. He formerly played for Kärpät in the Finnish SM-liiga.
He is not to be confused with Nicklas Bäckström, the Swedish ice hockey forward, who currently plays for Brynäs IF in the Swedish Elitserien.
Bäckström signed a multi-year contract with the Minnesota Wild on Thursday 1 June 2006.
