Bokmål

Bokmål (lit. Bokmål is used by around 85-90% of the population (regardless of dialect) and is the standard most commonly taught to foreign students of Norwegian. Before 1929 the official term for Bokmål was Riksmål. Historically, Bokmål is a Norwegianized variety of Danish which was commonly written in Norway until the start of the 20th century (see Dano-Norwegian).
