Admiral Norwich Duff.(15 August 179221 April 1862).
Son of Captain George Duff RN, was born at 9 South Castle Street, Edinburgh.
Entered the Royal Navy July 1805. Lieutenant September 1811. Flag Lieutenant to the commander-in-chief February 1814. Commander 15 June 1814. Served on HMS Mars at Battle of Trafalgar. Served in attack on New Orleans. Served on HMS Euralyus. Commanded the HMS Espoir, the HMS Beaver and the HMS Rifleman. Undertook an extensive continental European tour in 1819 of which he kept a journal. Post captain 23 April 1822.
Appointed Rear Admiral, 8 October 1852, and Vice Admiral, 28 November 1857.
There is a portrait of him by Sir Henry Raeburn. There is a metal plaque to him in Bath Abbey. Married, 10 June 1833. Helen Mary Shoolbred and had issue.
