From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nurse cell is a term used to describe a process in the disease trichinosis, in which a trichinella larvae takes up residence in a cell. The body of the host generates development of the blood vessels that surround the cell, in order to nurture the parasite. In trichinosis, nurse cells are likely to be skeletal muscle cells, as this is the type of cell that supports the life of the parasite. yea like it helps the cell survive and feeds it and stuff.
Nurse cells in respect to drosophilla:
These polytenic germline contribute to the development of the drosophilla oocyte, producing about 250-500 nuclei each 15 of them in each oocyte create 5000 nuclei in total. They dump their cytoplasm containing the nuclei into the oocyte via ring channels.
