Oakmont Country Club

Oakmont Country Club is a prestigious country club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, which is 15 miles northeast of downtown Pittsburgh in the Allegheny River Valley.
It has hosted the U.S. Open seven times, in 1927, 1935, 1953, 1962, 1973, 1983, and 1994, and will host it again in 2007. It has also played host to three PGA Championships, five U.S. Amateur Championships, and the U.S. Women's Open once, and will host it again in 2010.
The course, designed by Henry Fownes, was opened in 1903 and is regarded as among the most difficult in the United States. Par is 71. One of Oakmont's most famous hazards is the Church Pews bunker, a large bunker that measures about 60 yards long and almost 40 yards wide with seven grass covered ridges running across it. It comes into play on the 3rd and 4th holes.
The course is forever remembered for Johnny Miller's unforgettable 63 at the 1973 U.S. Open Golf Championship. Miller won the event and a place in U.S. Open Golf history.
