One Brick
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
One Brick is a non-profit corporation based in San Francisco, CA, USA.
The founding team, Dave Shefferman, Charlotte Rayne and Brian Gee met while volunteering at the San Francisco Food Bank. The trio recognized that while many non-profits have the need for volunteers, and many people are interested in volunteering, there are very few organizations that make the volunteer experience convenient and can sustain continued commitment from its volunteers.
A new approach was necessary to build a sustainable volunteer pool to support these organizations.

[edit] Mission
One Brick supports non-profit and community organizations by creating a unique, social and flexible volunteer environment for those interested in making a concrete difference in the community. They meet a previously un-met need by bridging the gap between a desire to help and actually helping. One Brick helps get people involved, make an impact, and have fun, without the requirements of individual long-term commitment.
Commitment-free volunteering allows volunteers to choose when they volunteer, rather than having to make commitments for a certain number of volunteer hours, or agree to be available every week at a specific time.
[edit] Philosophy
One Brick is volunteer led and run. They have no full time employees and they do not maintain any offices. Each year they sponsor many thousands of hours of community service by leveraging web technology and a massive base of volunteers.
[edit] Impact
One Brick volunteers help support 200 different organizations. The beneficiaries include groups who work for the benefit of children, the environment, food banks, schools, inner city neighborhoods.
