It is widely stated that before American Revolutionary War, one-third of the people in the colonies favored independence, one-third wanted to be part of Britain, and one-third didn't care.[citation needed]William Franklin, son of Benjamin Franklin, favored the rule of the British monarchy and this eventually led to a falling out between the two.[citation needed]
