Ostlandkreuz

Ostlandkreuz (East Country Cross) is the name of memorial crosses remembering the expulsion of the German people from the Czech Lands, specifically Südmähren, the districts of Znaim, Nikolsburg, Neubistritz, and Zlabings. There are at least two East Country Crosses in Germany, at Geislingen an der Steige and at Schorndorf.

The Ostlandkreuz (East Country Cross) is a memorial cross built 1950 south of Geislingen, on the Schildwacht.
The Ostlandkreuz is a steel framework construction covered with copper plates. It is 22.7 meters high and weighs 8.5 tons. The span width of its arms is 7.5 meters. In 1992 the Ostlandkreuz, a landmark of Geislingen, was renovated. The Ostlandkreuz was further refurbished in 2003 and received a light installation for illumination at night.
