Otterburn, Northumberland

Otterburn is a small village in northern Northumberland, northwest of Newcastle Upon Tyne. It is part of the district of Tynedale in the county of Northumberland. It lies within the Cheviot Hills close to the Scottish border.
Otterburn was the site of a major battle in 1388 between the English and Scottish armies. The engagement, in which Sir Henry Percy was taken captive, is the subject of the English ballad Chevy Chase and the Scots ballad Otterburn.
