Our House (musical)

"Our House" was a relatively short-lived musical production staged at the Cambridge Theatre in London's West End that ran from 28th October 2002 to 16th August 2003. <ref>History of the musical Our House</ref> The show featured songs from the 1980s ska group Madness and was named after one of their most popular hit singles, "Our House".
Written by Tim Firth, the story for "Our House" told a tale of modern-day love set on the streets of London and followed two different possible courses in the life of a young man, Joe, following his involvement in petty crime. <ref>Tim Firth's website - summary and reviews of Our House</ref>
Madness played a role in the executive production of the show and Suggs himself stepped into the production for a time, playing the central character's father.
Despite winning the 2003 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical <ref>Laurence Olivier Awards - Chronological list of winning musicals</ref>, it received mixed reviews from critics and closed after less than 10 months.
A recorded version of the original production was broadcast on BBC3 in December 2003 <ref>Our House - The Musical: BBC3 cast list</ref>.
In July 2006, a new production of the show toured Japan, starting in Tokyo.
