Padmanabhapuram is a city and a municipality near Thuckalai in Kanniyakumari district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Padmanabhapuram was the old capital of the princely state of Travancore in India. The Travancore King, Rama Varma, who was popularly known as Dharma Raja, shifted the capital in 1795 from Padmanabhapuram to Thiruvananthapuram.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Padmanabhapuram had a population of 20,051. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. In Padmanabhapuram, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
