The word pant may refer to:

  • half of a pair of pants, (trousers in British English); see also chaps, leggings
  • Pant may also be used as a verb to mean:
    • to breathe quickly, spasmodically, or in a labored manner
    • to move with or make a throbbing or puffing sound,
    • a panting breath, the visible movement of the chest accompanying such a breath
    • the method exhibited by many furry animals to cool their body temperature, see thermoregulation
  • Pant sometimes refers to underpants, although this is no longer a norm
  • Pant is a North Indian and Nepalese surname used by people who belong to the Hindu religion. These people belong to the Kumauni Brahmin caste. The ancestors of these families migrated from the western India, particularly Maharashtra to their current Himalayan home.
