Paramachairodus is the oldest known true saber-toothed cat. Its fragmentary fossils were discovered in Cerro Batallones near Madrid, Spain. The fossils of Paramachairodus date about 20-15 million years old, from the early Miocene. Other than age, little is known about this prehistoric mammal and even today it is still debated.
