Paul Kirchhoff

Paul Kirchhoff was a German philosopher born in the city of Horste in 1900 and died in 1972 in Mexico City. He studied at the University of Berlin and specialized in Mexican ethnology. He was the co-founder of the National School of Anthropology and History in 1938. He was a researcher at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma in Mexico. Kirchoff defined the concept of Mesoamerica for the study and classification of the ethnography of the Mexican region and for that of Central America. He contributed important research in the study of Mexican cultures.
