  • Petiole (botany), the stalk of a leaf, attaching the blade to the stem; petiolate leaves are ones where the tendril connects to the leaf before its apex
  • Petiole (insect) (also called a pedicel), the constricted first (and sometimes second) metasomal segment.
  • Various other natural structures, such as paper wasp nests, where there is a constricted "stalk".
