From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Phoenix Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in the Republic of Ireland for two-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies run over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres) at the Curragh in August.
The race was originally run at Phoenix Park Racecourse in Dublin. Following the course's closure the race was moved in 1991 to nearby Leopardstown Racecourse. It was first run at its present venue, the Curragh, in 2002.
