Pierre Degeyter

Pierre Chretien Degeyter (Ghent, 8 October 1848 – Saint-Denis, 26 September 1932) was a Belgian-born socialist, songwriter, and woodcarver.
He wrote the music for the International Workingmen's Association anthem, The Internationale, poem written by Eugène Edine Pottier during the Paris Commune. The song is still used by socialists parties around the world.
